Obama’s Lowlights (9/13/12)

Living at Home – According to a study by Ohio State University, one out of every three 25 to 34 years old live at home.

Free Speech – This past week, someone walking through Charlotte's central business district could run afoul of the law by carrying water bottles, hair spray, socks or magic markers under sweeping security rules enacted ahead of the Democratic National Convention.

Welfare – According to the AP this was Romney’s welfare program as Governor of Massachusetts: Romney, Massachusetts governor from 2003 to 2007, fought to require single parents with children as young as a year old to work to get welfare benefits if they could obtain state-subsidized child care. He opposed efforts to allow time spent in job training or education programs to count toward the state's 20-hour weekly work requirement for welfare recipients, and pushed for a five-year lifetime limit on welfare benefits.

Chris Matthews - In an interview with The Hill following the incident with a Romney delegate at the RNC, Matthews told the story and recounted that he said to the gentlemen: “What’s this, a douch#bag convention?” Spoken like a true adult.

Unions - Some union officials refused to go to the DNC after the Democrats chose a labor-unfriendly location in the right-to-work state of North Carolina. Others sent only skeleton staffs to support their union delegates, but say they’re focusing resources elsewhere. Labor groups aren’t shelling out for big events in Charlotte, and many aren’t even donating cash to the cause — despite their exemption from new restrictive fundraising rules. What’s worse, union activists walked a political tightrope at the DNC - voicing support for President Barack Obama's re-election bid while lamenting adversarial attitudes toward organized labor in the state Democrats chose for the presidential convention.

Beer - It’s official, the White House beer recipe is out! Last week White House Press Secretary, Jay Carney, tweeted out the link to the recipe and a video of how to make it.

Afghanistan - US Forces in Afghanistan said they have suspended training new recruits to the Afghan Local Police (ALP) amid a spike in the number of insider attacks which are damaging trust between Afghans and their allies.

Entitlements – According to the Wall Street Journal the growth of entitlement payments over the past half-century has been breathtaking. In 1960, U.S. government transfers to individuals totaled about $24 billion in current dollars, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. By 2010 that total was almost 100 times as large. Even after adjusting for inflation and population growth, entitlement transfers to individuals have grown 727% over the past half-century, rising at an average rate of about 4% a year.

Biden – In his latest fear mongering campaign speeches he claims Romney wants to go to war in Syria and Iran.

Yahoo News - Yahoo News ran an article saying Paul Ryan’s attempt to fire up his alma mater’s football team (Miami of Ohio) “failed” when they got blown out by Ohio State (Miami was a huge underdog). Where were the Yahoo News articles about Obama’s “failed” NCAA Men’s Basketball bracket?

John Burton – The California Democratic Party Chair leader compared Paul Ryan and the GOP to Nazis (Joseph Goebbels – The propaganda leader)

DNC – To fill the Charlotte stadium the Democrats had to bus in supporters.

Economy – For the third straight year Obama gave himself an incomplete grade on the economy.

No kidding around – psychological immaturity truly is the root of liberalism. I would stake my life on that.
