Obama’s Lowlights (4/30/12)

Move On – Michelle Obama is trying to funnel federal money into urban areas so they can get access to fresh foods. Michelle refers to urban areas as “food deserts”. This is nonsense; urban areas do have access to fresh foods.

Federal Debt - Although he has served less than a term, Obama is now the first American president to see the federal government's debt increase by more than $5 trillion during his time in office. Former President Bush accumulated over 4 trillion in debt over 8 years.

Taxpayer Research - Taxpayers may feel angry when they discover their dollars went to fund a study to determine rats like to bop to the music of Miles Davis while hopped up on cocaine.

Secret Service – Reports have surfaced the secret service planned the Columbian prostitute party in advance to departing for the trip.

Business Taxes - Republicans passed a $46 billion tax cut for most of America's employers through the House this past week. The measure will more than likely die in the Senate.

Youth Vote – Will Obama be able to count on the youth vote in 2012? Youth unemployment is at 17.4 percent - one of the highest levels since World War II. Average graduating student debt has reached a record-breaking $26,300. National debt per capita is $46,900 - the highest ever. Add it up, and the Youth Misery Index comes out to 90.6. Because of this Obama’s support among the youth has dropped 18%. Hence, Obama has been taking his campaign to universities in an attempt to blame Republicans for student loan interest rate increases from 3.4% to 6.8%.

Gun Sales – Gun sales are up 12 billion dollars (66%) in 2011 compared to 2008 (remember this is during a recession). Some in the industry attribute the jump in sales to fears the Obama administration will tighten gun control laws in a possible second term.

Fast and Furious – Head of the House Oversight Committee, Darrell Issa, says he will move forward with contempt charges against Attorney General, Eric Holder for withholding 74,000 documents on the failed guns program. In fact, the Department of Justice is using the liberal “watchdog” group Media Matters for America to deflect questions about the Fast and Furious scandal, including those regarding a gun that might have been used in the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

Keystone Pipeline – The latest House proposal to build the oil pipeline passed 293-127 with 69 Democrats on board.

IRS – A new bill, MAP-21, allows the IRS to confiscate passports of individuals who owe 50,000 dollars in taxes and allows the IRS to mandate all passenger cars have data recorders by 2015.

Gitmo - Two Uighur detainees were released from Guantanamo Bay to El Salvador.

Elizabeth Warren – It was confirmed Senate candidate (who is worth 15 million dollars) did not elect to pay the higher tax rate in Massachusetts. How is that for hypocrisy?
