Obama’s Lowlights (8/30/12)

John Corzine - Federal prosecutors do not expect to file criminal charges against the former New Jersey governor. Mr. Corzine has not yet received assurances that he is free from scrutiny, but two rounds of interviews with former employees and a review of thousands of documents have left prosecutors without a case against him, say the people involved in the investigation who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Prosecutors say Corzine is more guilty of being disorganized and incompetence for MF Global’s loss of over 1 billion in investor funds.

Economy – Jobless rates are on the rise again in 44 of 50 states. Also, the White House is considering tapping oil reserves to lower gas prices. And finally, housing starts have also fallen.

Chuck Schumer – The NY Times ran an article about Schumer and his match making abilities.

Newsweek – This past week they ran a lead story by a former McCain advisor that highlights all of Obama’s shortcomings in his first term. Hard to believe they would actually run an anti-Obama article of any kind.

Campaign – Obama has been ducking questions from the White House press corp for weeks. Instead Obama has been taking on local media interviews that ask those tough questions such as his favorite food or if he had a super power what would it be? When he finally addressed the press corp Obama says his team has never “gone out of bounds” on claims that Romney is a felon, tax cheat, and has killed a former Bain employee spouse. In other news, the RNC lead the DNC with cash on hand after July – 87 million dollars to 15 million dollars.

Charity - A study released by the Chronicle of Philanthropy found that residents in states where religious participation is higher than the rest of the nation, particularly in the South, gave the greatest percentage of their discretionary income to charity. The six New England states were the stingiest contributors to charities. No surprise here, conservatives give more to charity while liberals want more government handouts.

ObamaCare - Under the Affordable Care Act, the Obama administration's signature health care reform law, medical-device manufacturers will pay a 2.3 percent tax on sales of such products starting in 2013. That tax will affect everything from surgical tools to oxygen tanks to wheelchairs. It is one of several features of the law designed to raise money to cover the uninsured -- it's expected to raise an additional $20 billion by 2019. This tax will hit seniors the hardest.

DNC – Many women attending the Democratic National Convention are angry that the facilities are not mother friendly.

Afghanistan – The Joint Chiefs of Staff airplane was damaged by rebel fire. This is more of a sign of the deteriorating conditions in Afghanistan. What’s worse, one in four military deaths is due to attacks by the Afghan police force. Still, the media refuses to cover this war in the same light as the Iraq War.

Homelessness - The homeless population in New York City has risen a stunning 18 percent since 2011, forcing the city to open nine new emergency homeless shelters in June and July. New York now accommodates a crushing total of 43,731 under the costly bureaucracy known as the Department of Homeless Services.

Richard Minter – He has a new book on Obama called “Leading from Behind”. It is a good read.

When I was growing up in VERY LIBERAL Massachusetts there was terrible incident involving a fire at my bus driver’s house and some of his children were killed. The school was taking a collection for him and I sheepishly asked my ultra-conservative dad for money, knowing how he hated to part with a dollar. He gave me a $10 bill. When all of the children of the liberals in our town were plunking in nickels, dimes, and quarters, it gave me great pride to put that $10 in the jar.

My dad was from a ranching community in Colorado. He had no use for welfare and other liberal programs but when people were struck by genuine tragedy through no fault of their own, he could shame any liberal with his compassion.

    P.S.
I think John Corzine should speak at the DNC convention. Don’t you?

    Good lowlights!

  2. Corzine would be great and maybe they can add that guy named Green who was the convicted felon who ran against Lindsey Graham in the SC senate race in 2010.

Your dad sounds very generous. Ten dollars is a lot of money even today.
